Folk Dance performed by the Nagas

The Horn Bill Festival is a celebration which is held  every year from 1-10th of December. It is also called the "Festival of Festivals".The reason behind  the celebration of this festival is to encourage the inter- tribal interaction and to promote cultural heritage of Nagaland.
The festival is organised by the State Tourism and Art & Culture Departments. It showcases a melange of cultural displays under one roof. The festival is held at The Naga Heritage Village, Kisama which is about 12km from Kohima. Roadways transportation like two wheeler and four wheeler are provided for those attending the festival. At this time, you  find a large number of tourist who come to witness the fascinating event. You  get to see a glimpse of all the traditional aspects of Nagaland. The festival is gritting in its element  and a powerful representation  of the Naga Culture is displayed through splendid traditional music, dance and performances.       The foods available are exotic and mouth watering and it will just suit your right appetite . The locals use ingredients that are purely organic.. You will mostly get to eat food that are spicy. The food tends to activate your taste buds due to the key ingredient  used in cooking that is the king chilli.. You get all types of Naga dishes and cuisines like the galho which is prepared with rice, fermented soy beans, beef, and some edible leaves with a little bit of salt. This dish is very popular among the Nagas and it is very delicious.
We also have the smoked pork with sesame seed, frizzled pork, pork with seasonal veggies, fried fishes, dried liver, smoked pork with bamboo shoots and pork with kollar(soy beans) are some popular dishes available. Their smoked pork is a must try.

Where to stay during the hornbill festival...???🏡

If it is your first visit to Nagaland and you have not pre-booked any hotels the it could be a problem for you because you won't find accommodations in the sophisticated hotels in Kohima. So,in this case the most preferred and easily valuable options are home stays where in you ca stay with your family in their home and you are provided with bedding and food as per your like.
During the Hornbill Festival, many camps are also open on the outskirts of the town. These arrangement offer accommodations in the form of Two-person tents including delicious, meals. These camps are a great way to meet people and know about them.
